Manufacturing a casting pattern of a turbine blade

BY IN News

Casting patterns, how many times have we been asked how parts are built out of a casting model?

During the last years, TV channels such as Discovery have shown us creation processes of different machines, devices or parts. Some of these show casting pattern production.

It is sometimes complicated to explain customers, friends and family what our profession is like. Wooden patterns (http://www.polistmodel.com/en/casting-patterns/wooden-moulds//), polystyrene patterns (http://www.polistmodel.com/en/casting-patterns/polystyrene-moulds/), resin patterns (http://www.polistmodel.com/en/casting-patterns/resin-moulds/), metallic patterns (http://www.polistmodel.com/en/casting-patterns/resin-moulds/), casting pattern moulding, different melting methods, different materials… For this reason, and in an attempt to enhance understanding, here do we provide a document by Marco Antonio Ugalde, engineer of Morelia Mechanical Engineering Faculty, where he explains a great deal of what Polistmodel does.

MANUFACTURING A CASTING MODEL

Marco Antonio Ugalde performs a general analysis, for each part requires a specific casting pattern and each foundry worker has his/her own know how. Therefore, in Polistmodel, we adapt to each worker’s needs and produce patterns with the specifications demanded.
